Williamsburg Youth Harp Society offers programs for children ages 8-18 who live in the greater Williamsburg area. Children who advance and join a performing ensemble are expected to perform with their group when requested. Our programs include the following:
- Beginners Program--This program is for children who have little or no experience on the harp but show musical ability and/or interest. Children are placed in Harp I or Harp II for lessons.
- Rawls Byrd Beginners Program-- Children must be students at Rawls Byrd to participate. Classes are held in the mornings, before school, at Rawls Byrd. More information will be sent home with students.
- Allegro Ensemble--Children who progress to the performing level are given the opportunity to learn performing and ensemble skills and to perform in the community.
- Canto Ensemble--This program is for children who are working on advancing their ensemble skills and have reached the intermediate to advanced level.
- Arpeggiare Ensemble--This is our primary performing group. Our most advanced students with already-developed ensemble skills study and perform together.
- Celtic Ensemble--Members of Arpeggiare and other youth musicians, including fiddlers, flutists and guitarists comprise this ensemble. The group is recently formed and hopes to begin performing Spring or Summer of 2010.
